The tragedy of Gaza continues through time, and war and suffering are repeated, and their lives are met with oppression and extermination, so that their sacrifices do not bring calm but are met with more death. What is happening with them of extermination and violence cannot be believed. Whenever they try to stand again or try to overcome the tragedy, a new calamity destroys everything they have created, as if life refuses them and insists on preventing them from rising. They live their past in their present.
The people of Gaza have never calmed down and have not been able to know the taste of rest for a day, and on top of the violence and shelling that is happening to them, it is accompanied by deep psychological pain that is straining their lives. Their suffering in Gaza stretched from the past to the present, until the mother of war changed their outlook on life to become a distorted symbol. From the beginning of the formation to the nothingness, suffering began with their existence, and almost ended with them, accompanied them from the past to the present.
Gaza before the occupation
Gaza was an important city throughout history, located on the Palestinian coast, and passed by different civilizations, its geographical location made it a station for trade and communication between many peoples. Gaza was not only of strategic importance, but also of economic importance, because it was a center of trade, where Muslims and Christians lived together harmoniously and in a state of coexistence and peace.
The crises began during the British occupation of Palestine (19171948), when the Zionists began to make plans to take the land by buying it. This was done in twisted ways and with the aim of changing the identity of the land and turning it into a Jewish state.
Although Palestinian leaders warned of the danger of selling land to Jews, some individuals fell into the trap and sold their land to Jews. This contributed to the realization of part of the Jewish settlement plan on Palestine, and the acquisition was ostensibly legal, and aimed at gradual control of Palestinian land.
Beginning of Crisis in Gaza
When Britain occupied Palestine in 1917, a new phase of foreign control began, and in the same year, the Balfour Declaration was issued, an official statement by the British government promising Jews a national home in Palestine.
Although the duration of the British occupation was not long and this for the duration of the other occupations, what resulted was very dangerous. Because it secretly initiated the policy of turning Palestine into Jewish land through the purchase of land and the establishment of settlements. This led to an escalation of tension and hostility between the Palestinian and Jewish populations, who not only migrated but gained control of the land and built settlements on it, further angering Palestinians.
A war began in 1948, which was triggered by the Arab refusal to declare the State of Israel. The Gaza Strip has been of great importance, both in terms of its location and even its role in the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip has become a safe place for tens of thousands of Palestinians who have been evicted from their homes, or even fled because of the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation, against civilians, who have lost their land and homes and have nowhere to go but Gaza.
Israel's Expansion in Palestine
In 1967, Gaza became one of the areas under Israeli occupation, and this setback marked a decisive turning point. If Israel then continues to expand its settlement lines and control the land, that is out of the depth of the suffering inflicted on the Palestinians.
Since the outbreak of the first intifada in 1987, the Gaza Strip has been a major axis of resistance against the Israeli occupation. Despite Israel's continued attempts to destroy Gaza's infrastructure, Gaza has proved resilient and invincible. The intifada broke out with stones and chants and expressed the will of the Palestinians. But the Israeli response has come violently from murder and repression.
Resistance control of Gaza
In 2007, the resistance took control of the Gaza Strip, and then Israel imposed a suffocating siege on Gaza that made the lives of Gazans difficult, turning the Strip into an area of daily suffering. Since then, Gaza has been subjected to many devastating wars, most notably in 2008, 2012, and 2023. In every Israeli aggression, infrastructure has been heavily and massively targeted, and large numbers of people have been killed and injured, but it has looked to extinguish the fire of resistance that has not been extinguished and will remain alive until the end of the era of Israeli occupation. Gaza remained steadfast in the face of the Israeli war.
When a new war broke out on Gaza in October 2023 and lasted for two years, killing 54,381,000 people, thousands of homes were bombed and destroyed, Israel imposed a blockade on them, and all their basic needs of water, electricity and health services were cut off.
By 2025, the situation has worsened due to the failure of the May 2025 ceasefire, the escalation of attacks and the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip, especially after the collapse of the recent ceasefire, Israel has increased the frequency of its aggression against the Palestinians, increasingly targeting civilians. This escalation has resulted in large numbers of Palestinian civilian casualties and has exacerbated the risk of the collapse of the remaining infrastructure, which was already suffering significant damage. This has made the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip worse and made life more harsh and miserable.
